Conkers About Concealers

Everyday we read or hear about the ‘best’ product or the ‘new hot seller’, but sometimes it’s just best to hear it from the horse’s mouth. This Autumn, you have your say. We have pulled together our top 5 concealers that we are just conkers about….voted by you!

#1 Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfector

This is quite simply the only make up item I would buy if I could only have one. I have quite large, open pores on my nose and feel self conscious not wearing any make up. However, I’m a busy mother and rarely have time to put much make up on. The rest of my skin is OK so I can go without foundation, which means all I have to do is pop a little of this Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfector on my nose and a touch of mascara and I’m good to go – perfect for rushed mornings!!

Look smooth and flawless in an instant. Pores seem to disappear leaving a natural looking matte finish that lasts up to 8 hours. Smart technology manages excess oil when and where needed and resists sweat and humidity. Invisible Light for All Skin Types 15ml / 0.5 fl.oz. Our Price £18.90 – You save 10% off RRP

#2 Jane Iredale Active Light Under-Eye Concealer

Caroline W:

After being a YSL fan for years I finally found a cruelty-free alternative to Touché Eclat and it’s miles BETTER! Wish I’d dared to change years ago. I love Jane Iredale products now and they’re far better value for money.

A light refracting under-eye concealer designed to give sheer to medium coverage and using titanium dioxide and boron nitride to create a soft focus finish while buckwheat seed, white tea leaf, and cucumber fruit extracts sooth, protect, and reduce puffiness of the skin. #3 Clinique All About Eyes Concealer

Barbara S:

All About Eyes Light Petal 03 has a thick creamy texture where a little goes a long long way. A small tube will last you at least a year even with regular use. It is highly pigmented and is the best concealer I’ve ever used.

This long-wearing oil-free Concealer helps keep eyes looking healthy and bright. Dark circles are reduced and puffiness is gone. Its moisturising formula ensures hydration throughout the day. Our Price £17.10 – You save 5% off RRP

30 Days of Guinot: Here’s What Happened

Our Beauty Editor took the Guinot challenge and used only Guinot skincare products for 30 days. Here’s what happened…

Double CleansingWhen it comes to skincare I’ll confess I’m fickle. At any one time my skincare (micellar water, cleanser, moisturiser, toner etc.) is all from different brands. And although cherry picking products can be the best of all worlds, I do wonder if there’s a benefit from using products created to work in sync with each other. To test this theory I set myself the task of using only skincare by one brand for 30 days. And since Guinot is one of my favourite skincare brands I decided on the ‘Guinot challenge’.

Guinot Challenge – Products I Used

Here are the only skincare products I used for the 30 days of the challenge. I used all products in this order, morning and night.

Makeup remover: Eau Demaquillante Micellaire
I always double cleanse so start with makeup removal. This micellar water has a soft, floral fragrance and easily removes makeup with just a few wipes on cotton wool. My bottle lasted about 8 weeks and I promise I was using it liberally! I wear contact lenses and this was 100% comfortable. My verdict: one of the best micellars I’ve used, 8/10

Cleanser: Lait Hydra Confort
Next was this thick and creamy cleanser – just apply to the face then rinse with water. With a soft rose scent it was a dream to use. I still have half the bottle left and I’ve been using it twice a day for over 8 weeks. In fact it’s become my go-to cleanser and I plan to stick with it! My verdict: absolutely LOVE, it feels like a treat each time I use it, 9/10

Toner: Lotion Hydra Confort
This toner for dry skin has a soft and fruity, floral scent. One of the main ingredients is glycerin which makes it super moisturising. Absorbs very quickly and given the high glycerin content makes a great pre-makeup primer. One bottle lasts around 12 weeks. My verdict: one of my favourite products and my skin loved it, 8/10

Pigmentation Serum: Concentre Anti-Taches
Pigmentation is one of my bugbears so I added in this step. Only a 15ml tube but you need a tiny amount so a little goes a long way. Still lots left and the tiny nozzle means you can target problem areas. My verdict: pigmentation is a marathon not a sprint, but areas of light pigmentation have already gone (yay!), I’ll continue to use, 7/10

Moisturiser: Creme Riche Fermete Lift
Guinot has a large range of moisturisers so I chose this one for dry skin with firming action. Super-rich and creamy with a soft scent, you only need a 5p sized piece for the whole face. My tube lasted about 10 weeks. My verdict: I really like this, it made my skin look plumped and healthy, absorbed well and was great under makeup, 8/10

Eye Cream: Age Logic Yeux
This eye cream from Guinot is a splurge, but I really wanted to give my eyes some extra support. The cream manages to be thick yet absorbs really fast. Best of all you need a teeny tiny amount for both eyes (use any extra on your lips). My verdict: I really liked this, it didn’t irritate my eyes at all, absorbed well and helped reduce fine lines, 8/10

Guinot Challenge – My Results

Guinot Challenge Empties
My Guinot ‘Empties’!

So did I notice anything using the same brand for 30 days? Well firstly my skincare felt more structured. I had a neat row of bottles and products that matched, instead of my usual mish-mash. And the texture and scent of each product worked so well with the next. Even though I was following a 6 step system, it seemed to work quickly – I can’t say why for sure, but it just flowed. The whole process took around 5 minutes from start to finish. My skin looked great and my dry patches vanished, which is testament to the great job that Guinot does. And although I have other favourite brands, there are products I loved that will definitely stay in my routine, such as the fabulous creamy cleanser.

Guinot Challenge – Shop Guinot

If you’d like to take the Guinot challenge you can shop all Guinot at allbeauty. And if the products I used aren’t quite right for you, Guinot has a large range of skincare for all skin types.

Sweeten Up Your Haircare With Paul Mitchell Neon®

It’s the exclusively Generation Z hair care range: we review Paul Mitchell Neon®

Paul Mitchell Neon®  is a full range of hair care for ‘Generation Z’ (that’s anyone born this century). Infused with natural sugar, Paul Mitchell Neon® is a little sassy and a little sweet, setting the standard for emerging trends. And, made primarily for Generation Z, Neon® focuses on inclusiveness, individuality and building self-esteem. With six products in the range, Neon® is fully equipped to give you any style you want…

Paul Mitchell Neon® Review

We asked allbeauty fan Elysia to try the Paul Mitchell Neon range!

Paul Mitchell NeonI’m not usually one to fuss about what brand of hair product I use and  tend to just use any ol’ shampoo and conditioner in the shower at the time. However, after using the Paul Mitchell Sugar Cleanse Shampoo and Conditioner my hair definitely thanked me for it!

The products have a sweet, sugary scent (hence the name) which leaves hair smelling so delicious. I couldn’t believe it, even after the first time of using them my hair already felt softer, smoother and super silky. My favourite thing about all of these products is that my hair was left feeling like I’djust walked out of the hairdressers: aka the best feeling ever!

The Sugar Twist Tousle Cream works wonders. My hair is the awkward, ‘in-between’ type where it’s neither curly nor straight, so I use heat on my hair almost every day. The tousle cream has literally changed my life, it’s so quick and easy to create more defined waves which don’t look like I’ve just rolled out of bed in the morning. The product also gives so much texture which helps form the perfect messy bun!

The Sugar Cream is amazing for creating  flawless braids, making hair that little bit smoother yet adding the control you need to do the braid. It even prevents  those annoying pieces of hair from sticking out (most frustrating thing ever!) which is a miracle.

Paul Mitchell NeonLast but not least my favourite one out of them all, the ‘Hold + Control’ Spray. I’m never usually picky when it comes to what hairspray I use however this one is by far the best. I’ve recently been wearing my hair in a slicked back high pony and I used this spray to hold all of the wispy pieces of hair that don’t quite tie up in place. I love it! It doesn’t leave your hair hard and crispy but it’s sure to hold your hair in place all day. It also smells incredible!

I would 10/10 recommend Paul Mitchell Neon® to a friend purely on how amazing they smell and how they have made my hair look and feel SO much healthier.

Bonus! When you use Neon®, you’re helping to support anti-bullying organisations, such as The Diana Award and Stand Up To Bullying. Kindness is the mission. Together let’s create a world where everyone can be themselves and shine! Shop the Paul Mitchell Neon® range at allbeauty.com

Benefit BADgal BANG! Review

Our Benefit BADgal BANG! review has the first look at the newest launch in beauty!

Read on to see our Benefit BADgal BANG! review with before and after pics. You can shop BADgal BANG! online at allbeauty.

benefit badgal bang reviewIt’s the newest release from Benefit and BIG BIG news in the world of mascara. Hot on the heels of the legendary ‘They’re Real‘ mascara, comes BADgal BANG!, the next generation of BADgal mascara. Promising 36 hour, BIGGER, BADDER full-blast volume, this is a launch with SERIOUS impact!

We gave allbeauty Editor Claire the task of trying new BADgal BANG! and giving us her verdict…

Benefit BADgal BANG! Review – Before & After

benefit badgal bang review

A volumising mascara that lasts 36 hours, doesn’t smudge and you can layer? Music to my ears!! I’ve tried a lot of mascaras over the years but only a handful made it to my beauty bag. So boy was I thrilled to be trying new Benefit BADgal BANG! mascara… In addition to the volume claims, Benefit told me the mascara is water-resistant (meaning no smudging or flaking) and since panda eyes are my bete-noire, that went down as a major tick. It also contains ProVitamin B5 known to fuel thickness and strength – are there any downsides to this product?! – and has a streamlined brush with a 360 degree reach, which covers root-to-tip, corner-to-corner, upper and lower lashes. Best of all (I LOVE this fact!) it contains something called Aero-particles – they’re one of the lightest known materials and derived from actual space technology (seriously, they’re used in astronaut spacesuits!!)

benefit badgal bang review
On the left BADgal BANG! (2 coats) On the right, no mascara…

So on to the testing. The packaging has that wonderful matt-rubber feel, with a chunky lid that clicks tight shut. I could tell immediately I opened it this was going to be good – the product comes out on the wand with absolutely no clumping. There’s no wiping off excess on the lid or plunging the wand up and down, there’s enough on the wand and that’s it. Brilliant. I slicked it onto my lashes and YES it was instant volume as you can see from my before and after pics.

benefit badgal bang review
The full effect on both eyes (2 coats of BADgal BANG!)

The wand does exactly what it promises, it’s super-easy to reach all lashes, upper and lower. Now I LOVE LOVE to layer my mascara and the number one complaint I have is that many brands can’t do this. They clump and flake and you have to give up. Not so BADgal BANG! – give it 30 seconds or so and then apply a second coat and it goes on perfectly. Give it another 30 seconds and you’re good to go again. I’ve left it at two coats, but I’m willing to bet you could keep going with this product.

My Verdict: 9/10, it’s staying in my bag for good (I knocked off one star because surely nothing’s perfect…)

Don’t just take my word for it, here’s what others thought on trying new BADgal BANG!

  • 90% saw dramatic volume
  • 94% said it instantly lifted lashes
  • 92% said it lengthened lashes

(self evaluation by 102 women after 1 week)

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Review

It’s loved the world over, so we decided to put it to the test! Our Philip Kingsley Elasticizer review reveals all…

Elasticizer_reviewElasticizer Review – What Is It?

You’ve almost certainly heard of it – it’s loved by celebs, hair professionals and hardcore fans. And it was created for Audrey Hepburn back in 1974! But what exactly is Philip Kingsley Elasticizer and why is it so great for your hair?  Let’s explain: healthy hair stretches when wet but returns to its original length once it’s dry. Not the case for hair in poor health, which snaps when stretched. Elasticizer is a pre-shampoo treatment that floods the hair cuticle with moisture. The result is supple hair with greater elasticity and bounce, but without a heavy feel. It’s super popular in the summer when hair is exposed to sun, chlorine and salt water. It’s also popular in the winter, when the hair can dry out from exposure to wind and central heating. If you’re noticing that you hair is dry and brittle, keep reading!

Jo Freeman JosBeautyDiaries Elasticizer reviewWe asked model, makeup artist and beauty blogger Jo Freeman to try Elasticizer for the first time and tell us what she thought.

Jo told us although she’d used Philip Kingsley products before, she was yet to try this famous hero. After a summer spent abroad, her hair was in desperate need!

Here’s what Jo told us:

After a summer in various hot climates (I’m not complaining but my hair is!) and a botched colour job a few months ago, plus various salon visits to rectify, my hair was crying out for an intensive hair treatment. Having tried several professional ones to use at home not to mention 2 courses of in salon treatment Olaplex my hair was in no better state. It was dry and frizzy despite the serums and smoothing creams I was using and obviously it’s a vicious circle of using straighteners to smooth down as this leads to more damage.

Since using Philip Kingsley Elasticizer for the past month or so my hair has felt much more hydrated, softer and looks healthy and glossy and repaired. A little goes a long way and you only need a small amount especially with fine hair, mine is medium to fine and I use the size of a five pence piece. It is very nourishing but doesn’t weigh the hair down like some intensive hair masks. I would highly recommend it to keep hair healthy, and in great condition.

Elasticizer reviewPromising visible results from the first application, here’s how to use Elasticizer:

1. Simply wet the hair and apply the product from roots to tip.

2. Cover with the plastic cap provided for 10 – 20 minutes.

3. Rinse out and continue with your usual haircare routine.

Here’s when to use Elasticizer:

Unprocessed hair:
For Fine & Medium Textured hair, use once or twice a month
For Coarse, Wavy, Curly or Frizzy hair, use once a week

Processed hair:
For Fine & Medium Textured hair, use once a week
For Coarse, Wavy, Curly or Frizzy hair, use twice a week

The Complete Guide To Calvin Klein Obsessed

Calvin Klein Obsessed is a reinvention of the iconic fragrance for him and her. Here’s your complete guide to the newest scent.

Calvin Klein Obsessed

Echoing the original CK Obsession, but reblended for men and women today, comes the evocative Calvin Klein Obsessed.

Deeply based in memory, Obsessed is once again as much about the incredible scent as the iconic advertising campaign for Obsession, featuring an 18 year old Kate Moss and photographed by her 20  year old boyfriend Mario Sorrenti. It’s fair to say, few fragrances before or since have matched Obsession, both in terms of worldwide fame, inspiring emotion and creating eternally loyal fans.

We bring you the complete story behind Calvin Klein Obsessed for men and women, new for 2017.

CK Obsessed: The Campaign

Calvin Klein Obsessed Mario Sorrenti

Many of us remember the original campaign in 1993 and the stir it created. Yet few of us know the astonishing story behind it. Real-life couple Kate and Mario were sent to the Virgin Islands, alone, with no crew, no stylists, no team. There, Mario shot over 250 images of Kate, alongside hours of video footage.  Mario recalls that the shoot felt more like a vacation than work and describes it as ‘personal and intimate’. The resulting pictures have been described as personal, honest, and real, major factors in their enduring appeal.

I was so passionate about photography, and Kate and I were in love… I loved photographing her. We were young, and I was never again so obsessed or so in love with photographing one person.” Mario Sorrenti – Photographer, OBSESSED and OBSESSION campaigns

The campaign for Calvin Klein Obsessed draws on unseen footage from the original shoot and is focussed on bringing back the images as memories.

Calvin Klein Obsessed: The Packaging

Calvin Klein Obsessed For Women

Understated, contemporary yet sensuous. The new Obsessed bottles echo the original Obsession, to become almost a memory in themselves. Clear, crisp yet sensual. Obsessed is the first fragrance to be released by Calvin Klein, since the appointment of Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons, the Chief Creative Officer at Calvin Klein. The almost stripped-back bottles reflect his desire to return to the sensual heart of the house and its iconic fragrances, with a modern, fresh twist.

Calvin Klein Obsessed – The Re-Invention

If one thing summed up CALVIN KLEIN for us visually, it was Mario Sorrenti’s OBSESSION campaign with Kate Moss… We thought about a scent that could reflect such an idea of memory and desire for today. Of male and female, of the memory of somebody else on your skin – RAF SIMONS, Chief Creative Officer CALVIN KLEIN

Stay Dench Fragrance: The New Men’s Scent We LOVE!

It’s the newest release from the music world, that took us by surprise. Stay Dench fragrance for men is a fruity, woody delight – here’s why we love it.

The brand new Stay Dench fragrance for men is available to buy online at allbeauty. A straw poll of the Marketing Team at allbeautyHQ came back with a 100% thumbs up from everyone (and we’re a hard bunch to please!)

A short while ago a new men’s fragrance landed on our desk. From the brand Stay Dench (founded by rapper Lethal Bizzle) comes a new Eau de Toilette for men. Affordably priced at just £20 for the 100ml bottle, you’d be forgiven for thinking this was a forgettable scent but hold on! Because far from being that, Stay Dench is a super stylish men’s fragrance that would sit well with other well-known scents. A mix of fresh and fruity notes, with a base of Suede and Wood, Stay Dench is a perfect day-to-night fragrance. Add in the top note of Pink Pepper and you get a spicy kick that adds warmth and vitality.

Stay Dench Fragrance Notes

  • Top Notes: Pink Pepper, Pineapple, Melon
  • Middle Note: Mint, Geranium
  • Base Notes: Suede, Woody Accord

Stay Dench Fragrance: The Packaging

Stay Dench EDT

The heavy matte-black glass bottle features reflective silver lettering. The lid is a chunky silver affair (which reminds us of Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb). Each bottle comes with a metal ‘Dench’ tag around the bottle neck.

The fragrance is spray-on and, with great sillage, a couple of sprays goes a very long way.

Stay Dench Fragrance: Celeb Fans

A chicken and fragrance party hosted by Lethal Bizzle was the setting for the Stay Dench EDT launch in August 2017! In attendance were fellow celebs including Skepta, Tinchy Strider and Lisa Mafia. The Stay Dench brand launched back in 2012 with a line of clothing based on the Rapper’s famous sayings (“stay dench” meaning to stay cool) and went on to appear in Selfridges, Foot Asylum and more. Famous fans now include Ed Sheeran (seen below with the new Stay Dench EDT).

Ed approves @teddysphotos ❤️😁

Stay Dench Fragrance: Dame Judi

Oh yes, we couldn’t finish our post on Stay Dench without mentioning the great lady herself. Because believe it or not, Dame Judi Dench is a fan of the Stay Dench brand! Introduced to the brand by Radio 1’s Greg James, Dame Judi became a superfan and recently rapped with Lethal Bizzle (seriously, it’s amazing and a must-watch). She’s even given a set of ‘Dench Gang’ t-shirts to her family, making her officially the coolest Gran in the country.

@denchfragrance out now 😈

We Review Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

Our Beauty Editor reviews Philip Kingsley’s best-selling Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo, with surprising results…

Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo from Philip Kingsley is the award-winning formula to relieve and clear flaking and/or itchy scalps. It’s available online at allbeauty.

Review Flaky/Itchy ShampooThis product couldn’t have come at a better time for me. For the past 6 – 8 weeks my poor scalp’s been slowly drying out, thanks to overuse of the hair dryer, sea-bathing, and the sun. At this point my usual shampoo’s just irritating my stressed-out scalp, with each hair wash followed by frantic towel rubbing to combat the itch. Then there are the dreaded flakes… I’ve had temporary success with hair oils but nothing that lasted. It seemed the only option was something medicated and unpleasant from the pharmacy.

Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

Flaky/Itchy Scalp ShampooI tend to wash my hair every 3 days, but Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo can be used daily (and is suitable for use on coloured hair) –  great when you’re struggling with a sensitive scalp that needs extra TLC. As you can see from my pics, my hair’s struggling with some dryness and frizz and there’s a definite redness to the scalp.

Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo: Using The Product

Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

Philip Kingsley keep things simple, with no complicated instructions or leaflets to read. I’m simply advised to wet the hair and lather well with a gentle kneading of the scalp and to rinse and repeat if necessary. The bottle itself has a fantastic flip-top lid (I tried the 250ml size) with a really neat dispensing nozzle. No waste here, the clear gel shampoo came out easily into my hand and had a lovely, fresh apple scent.

Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

There’s no advice on how much to use, so I guessed at a tablespoon. After the first application I didn’t find it was going very far and there was very little lather. I’ll admit though I do have long, thick hair so may have underestimated how much was needed. Plan B: I dispensed another tablespoon into my hand and this time lathered it up before applying. Success! The shampoo doesn’t lather as much as some products (no bad thing), but this worked for me. Taking the advice of ‘kneading the scalp’, I worked the product into my poor stressed head for around a minute and at this point I could genuinely feel a soothing sensation. Best of all – no itching! I finished with a cool rinse, patted my hair dry and left it for around half an hour before rough drying with a hairdryer.

Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo: My Results

Flaky/Itchy Scalp ShampooAs soon as I towel dried my hair, I could tell there was no itch. And even after using the dryer, I wasn’t getting that dry, itchy sensation.  I was also happy to find the apple scent wasn’t overpowering, in fact my hair just smelt clean. What I wasn’t expecting was the amazing shine and my smooth, tangle-free, manageable locks!

Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

The shampoo promises to leave hair ‘shiny and manageable’ but what I got was hair that looked and felt conditioned and was so tangle free I couldn’t believe it. I could actually run my fingers through it without a comb! Unheard of for me! It was shiny, healthy and not an itch to be felt or a flake to be seen.

Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

2 Days later, my hair’s still free of the dreaded itch and I haven’t seen a single flake. I’m so impressed with the condition of my hair, I’m looking forward to seeing how it improves with regular use.

Overall I’m giving Philip Kingsley’s Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo a solid 9/10.

Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo: What Our Customers Said

I have suffered from a dry and itchy scalp for years and this is a must buy for me now. It’s the only shampoo ever to actually calm and sooth my scalp. So much so, I sometimes wonder if I have grown out of the condition and go back to trying other shampoos. Within just two hair washes I am back to being driven crazy by the itching again so I know it is this shampoo that is working for me – allbeauty Customer Jane

Lierac Homme Shaving Gel Review: What We Thought

We asked the guys at allbeautyHQ to review Lierac Homme Shaving Gel.

LLierac Shaving Gel Reviewierac Homme Shaving Gel review – our man tested the product for 2 weeks in place of his usual skincare. Here’s what he thought.

Part of the Lierac family, Lierac Homme is a range of skincare and grooming products just for men. A synergy of science and nature, Lierac specialise in helping problem and sensitive skin. So when Lierac Homme Shaving Gel landed on our desk, we asked allbeautyHQ head of logistics Shaun to test it out and put the brand through its paces.

Lierac Homme Shaving Gel Review – about the product

A softly scented gel, it contains the following natural extracts to calm and soothe skin:

  • Mint
  • Jojoba and Safflower oil
  • Vegetable Glycerine and Vitamin E

Lierac say:

This anti-irritating shaving gel is designed for sensitive and reactive skin. It turns into a creamy foam and softens the beard when shaving to ensure a perfect shave that leaves skin soothed, soft and protected.

Lierac Shaving Gel Review

We asked allbeautyHQ head of logistics Shaun to try the gel for 2 weeks in place of his usual shaving product. Shaun told us:

I have very sensitive skin and quite often after I wet shave I’ll then develop rashes / spots within 24 hours. My skin is left feeling really sore, despite using all kinds of shaving gels.

After 2 weeks of using the gel every morning, Shaun reported back. His verdict?

The Lierac Shaving Gel is really good!! It leaves my skin feeling really soft, smooth and refreshed, with no soreness whatsoever. It’s a big thumbs up from me and I’m now wet shaving continuously which isn’t something I’ve been able to do for a long time.

We Review: Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum

Our Aqualia Thermal review looks at the bestselling serum by Vichy Laboratories, especially for dry and sensitive skin.

Our Beauty Editor Claire gives us her VICHY Aqualia Thermal review.

VICHY Aqualia Thermal Review

As someone with normal to dry skin, I’m a huge fan of moisturisers and serums. And like the K-Beauty pack, I also believe that moisture is the key to great skin. So when a bottle of VICHY’s Aqualia Thermal Serum landed on my desk I grabbed it with both hands!

VICHY say: This intensive serum is formulated with hyaluronic acid and Thermal Spa Water to help calm dehydrated and sensitive skin and restore it back to its original comfort. Soft and lightweight in texture. Tested on sensitive skin under dermatological control, it’s hypoallergenic and contains no parabens.

The inclusion of hyaluronic acid is a bonus for me – this naturally occurring molecule is found in the body and especially the skin, where it’s responsible for tissue repair.  However, the reason you’ll see it in beauty products from dermal fillers to moisturiser, is because of its enormous ability to bind water to it. This not only moisturises the skin but also plumps it up.

Aqualia Thermal ReviewVICHY Aqualia Thermal Review – My Experience

VICHY Aqualia Thermal Review (1)
The serum has a light, milky texture – just enough left to show you!

VICHY say to apply the serum morning or evening onto cleansed skin. After double cleansing in the evening, I applied two pumps of the serum to my whole face, including the eye area. The serum has a soft texture and looks almost milky – some serums are very watery I find, but this has a little more substance which I like and makes it easier to tell where it’s been applied. I loved the immediate feel of the product on my skin, it was so silky and creamy and easy to work in. For me, the best part was the speed at which the serum absorbed. Around 10 seconds later it had all disappeared, leaving my skin looking and feeling nourished and balanced. I was hooked, but how would it fare under foundation? Next morning I applied 2 pumps again, to my whole face, after cleansing. I waited for 10 seconds and then applied my usual liquid foundation with a damp sponge. I’m happy to report my makeup went on beautifully and stayed on all day. Also, the serum alone was enough and I didn’t need any further moisturiser.  As the weeks went by I switched up how I used the serum according to my skin’s needs. When I felt it was needed I added a night cream over the serum and on some mornings I mixed the serum with my foundation to apply a lighter layer of makeup.

Overall I’m giving VICHY’s Aqualia Thermal a score of 9/10. I love the feel, the results and the way the product fits so well with my skincare and makeup regime. It also worked well as a lip moisturiser and I’ll confess to using a pump or two as hand cream…
