Bringing The Party To You: Home Festival Hacks

Festivals might be cancelled, but summer definitely isn’t! If you’re missing out on your festival fix this year, we’re here with plenty of tips, ideas and inspiration to get the full experience from the comfort of your home.

If you live alone, party like no-ones watching! Or, if you have kids in tow, get them involved! After all, music education is still education, and what better way to introduce kids to festivals than by throwing one in your own backyard!?

Read on for your total At-Home Festival Guide…

Getting The Look

Festival style is all about the effortless hippie/boho look, so dig out anything tasselled, crocheted or cropped, and live your best life.

Getting all dressed up is essential for any festival, even if you won’t be leaving your postcode. Embrace all things colour, glitter and fun – kids, in particular, will love joining in for this part. Here’s the list of must-have items for festival fun.

Sun Protection

It might be tempting to forego the SPF when you know you’ll be dipping in and out of the house, but this should really be a non-negotiable. Protecting your skin from the sun’s UV rays is one of the single most important ways you can prevent premature ageing and pigmentation. So, stock up on your summer essentials and stay safe.

Be Bold

Colour, colour, colour. Bright, bold colours take centre stage, so make sure you’ve got everything you need to nail the look. Everyone needs at least one vibrant eyeshadow palette in their collection, precisely for moments like this! If your eyeshadow options err on the side of beige, check out one of these great options…

If you haven’t heard of Jeffree Star, he’s an American makeup artist taking Youtube by storm. Known for his love of bright colours, the Beauty Killer eyeshadow palette will make a great addition to your festival look.

Another fabulous option is the Makeup Addiction Sinful Eyes Palette, which you can pick up with a 36% discount in our Outlet.

Highlighter

Whether you’ve had a good dose of summer sun already or have been stuck indoors, highlighter is a great way to get the sunkissed, glowing look that is synonymous with festivals. There are endless Youtube tutorials to help you master the look without looking too shiny. Try the Endless Glow Highlighter by BareMinerals which has just the right amount of shimmer and comes in four awesome shades.

Festival Hair

Loose, natural waves are popular for good reason, they’re low maintenance, add shape to the face and look gorgeous. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, it’s all about colour when it comes to getting the festival look.

Try label.m Mini Powder Spray, which includes four stunning colours that spray on and wash off. Ideal for getting the kids involved, or to spice up your own look. Or, if you want something equally fabulous, but a little more glam, take a look at the Affinage Party Mode Pack which includes an anti-frizz mirror shine spray, blow dry cream and, most importantly, a 3 in 1 body glitter kit. Shine, girl! Shine!

Choose A Festival Fragrance

While it’s by no means a necessity (perfume certainly isn’t the smell you’d associate with sweaty, muddy festivals), why not add an extra element to you event with a boost of something scented.

We couldn’t leave this perfume off our list, after all, it has “festival” in it’s name – that’s always a good sign! Festival Vibes For Her by Hollister infuses tonka bean, goji berries, quince and bergamot into the ultimate perfume to wear to your at-home festival.

Another great fragrance that is worth a try is Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna. Coconut, vanilla, peach, plum – are you drooling yet? This one is perfect for warm summer days in the sunshine. And after all, is any festival really complete without a bit of Rihanna?

Setting The Scene

Speaking of Rihanna, line up the perfect soundtrack for HomeFest by digging out your old CDs and records, or take a more modern approach with Spotify or by streaming concert footage on Youtube. The best part of holding your own festival is that you choose the tracklist, no filler acts!

Make sure you have some marshmallows, burgers and your drink of choice at the ready to continue the festival vibes through the evening.

Of course, no festival is complete without a night spent sleeping under canvas, so set up your tent (or create an inside version) and snuggle down for a unique way to end the day. A word to the wise though, if you’re going to indulge in some outdoor camping, you might want to have this set on hand:

With a little planning and a can-do attitude, there are no limits to how much fun you can have at home. So get out there and make it happen!

Meet the Brand: Odylique

Like any company who wants to truly make a difference Odylique has a great story…

A sensitive issue

It started with Margaret. Thirty years ago, Margaret Weeds – Nottingham native, and qualified in herbal medicine and aromatherapy – was suffering with very, very sensitive skin. She wasn’t alone: eczema ran in her family and she and her children were all plagued with sore, dry, itchy patches. It being the late 80s, conventional cosmetics or prescription skincare were the only real option available. These were often packed with petroleum, artificial additives and other skin irritants which simply didn’t suit her allergy-prone skin.

A natural solution

Confident that she could find answers through natural ingredients, Margaret began tinkering with skin-friendly concoctions. Armed with her exceptional herbal knowledge and belief in the capabilities of nature, she started experimenting using only organic herbs, plant oils and natural active ingredients that were kind to super-sensitive skin. The result was a small range of gentle, effective, delightfully caring formulas that worked wonders on the family’s collective skin complaints. On the strength of these results, Margaret and her daughter Abi launched Essential Care in 2003, a company with a passion for the power of genuine natural skincare.

Keeping it in the family

“Essential Care” was going well, but Margaret and Abi knew they could do more. By 2014, after a decade of bringing certified organic skincare and (the world’s first) Fair Trade make-up to the world, they re-christened themselves “Odylique”. Pronounced “Oh-dih-leek” (for those who struggle with their French linguistics!), the name is derived from a phrase that means “power of nature” and it suits perfectly. They’re still a family-owned company run by Margaret’s daughter Abi and a dedicated team of skin-loving experts. Odylique found its home amidst the rolling fields of Suffolk, where visitors are welcome to enjoy the botanical gardens. Every single one of Odylique’s products is handmade there. This makes them fairly unique in the skincare world and able to promise the highest quality and freshness for everything they make. It’s a haven for those seeking care for their sensitive skin.

They love your skin (and the planet)

Odylique was one of the first companies to create certified organic cosmetics and formulate the purest cosmetics possible.

Each and every one of their ingredients has therapeutic credentials. There are a few ways in which Odylique makes this happen:

  • By using actives – herbs and essential oils – in therapeutic concentrations.
  • Plant oils must be virgin and cold-pressed so that they have their full antioxidant vitamin-content intact (this more actively nourishes the skin and protects it from premature ageing).
  • They don’t do synthetic chemicals. Ever.
  • Everything is certified to strict Soil Association organic standards (those guys are strict, trust us)
  • They leave out lanolin, wheat, dairy & soya derivatives, salicylic acid, peanut oil, common allergen tree nut oils and more…all the things that can upset sensitive skin.
  • They NEVER test on animals. Instead, we test on human volunteers who have sensitive and allergy-prone skin.

Odylique are big on doing the planet as many favours as possible. As such, they make sure that their raw materials suppliers and all of their distributors follow the no-testing-on-animals rule, and they go out of their way to adhere to Fair Trade standards and use responsible, sustainable packaging.

Odylique’s Top 3…ok, 4 must-haves

  • Creamy Coconut Cleanserthis organic face cleanser is gentle but highly effective. The skin-conditioning creamy blend of extra virgin olive & coconut oils gently but thoroughly lifts away make-up, skin impurities and airborne dirt. Organic rose water and a subtle trio of pure essential oils calm sensitive skin and complete a thorough natural cleanse. This is a non-comedogenic cleanser, detergent-free and soothing for sensitive skin, dry skin, oily skin, normal or mature skin types! It is often used on skin prone to rosacea.
  • Superfruit Concentratethis organic face oil is a blend of super-strength 100% organic rosehip oil, sea buckthorn and pomegranate, giving an exceptional synergy of 5 omega fatty acids, plus antioxidant vitamins and nature’s miracle phytosterols, to target dry skin and all aspects of skin ageing. Use this super serum daily or as needed to boost moisture, cell renewal and collagen synthesis for smooth, instantly radiant skin.
  • Gentle Herb Shampoothis herbal shampoo will bring shine and vitality back naturally to even the most sensitive scalp. A 100% natural, certified organic, vegan shampoo – the first shampoo that ever achieved Soil Association approval.

It is free from all sulphates (including SLS, ALS, sodium coco sulphate), silicone, salt, fragrance and artificial preservatives.

  • Black Eye Linerthis organic eyeliner is the first eye pencil certified to Soil Association AND Fairtrade standards! Intensely rich mineral eye-liner pencil colour combines with organic jojoba, sunflower, shea butter and calendula for a rich, smooth texture that glides on effortlessly to define and nourish the delicate eye area, without tugging or pulling.

The Importance Of A Daily Routine with Perricone MD

How can a daily routine keep you calm in a crisis? It has become way too easy for our days to all run together in our new, surreal stay-at-home lifestyles. If you’ve skipped a shower, lived in pajamas, or slept in later than you have since your teens, you are most definitely not alone. Good habits are now regularly being broken (slacking off on your skincare routine, anyone?), and not-so-great ones are taking hold.

It’s hard to keep a routine going when you’re not going anywhere… and not just today, but for the foreseeable future. And while we may have even welcomed the respite from our hectic schedules at first, we’re now deep enough into shelter-at-home for the lack of routine to actually be detrimental to our well-being.

That’s because research regularly shows that having a routine — a set of habits or things you do everyday — is essential in keeping our brains feeling safe and secure. It’s the right conditions for our brains to thrive.

According to a study from Tel Aviv University, repetitive behaviors reduce anxiety. Another study published in Psychological Science found that people who experienced connections and regularity found more meaning in their everyday lives. And who couldn’t use a feeling of greater purpose and satisfaction right now, when it’s easier than ever to get lost in fear and the struggle to maintain normalcy? Who couldn’t benefit from a structure that helps your brain experience less stress in overwhelmingly stressful times?

Having an orderly routine — from taking a shower first thing in the morning to making your bed, to a weekly Zoom happy hour with friends — can help us feel secure, happier and safer. Here, 5 ways to feel calmer through simple, everyday actions.

SET A SCHEDULE

While you may be able to sleep in later than you normally would, still set an alarm so that you’re getting up at the same time every day.

Start your day with a workout, some meditating, FaceTime with a loved one, a few moments drinking a cup of tea before your kids get up — anything that makes you feel good and starts your day off on a positive note.

Try to eat meals at times you normally would (this also helps keep you from packing on boredom or stress weight). Put virtual dates, calls, closet — organizing time, anything that matters to you on your calendar so that it’s scheduled with a specific time. Doing so will give flow and a sense of normalcy to your days. And of course, stick to a healthy bedtime, as sleep is key in relieving stress and anxiety, as well as regulating your emotions.

GET DRESSED

Aristotle once said that “Men acquire a particular quality by constantly acting a certain way.” That was the old-school way of saying “get up, dress up and show up.”

Don’t give away your confidence and energy by not continuing to do the things that make you feel more professional, more put together, and more productive.

You wouldn’t show up to work or dinner with your friends wearing ratty old sweats and unwashed hair, so why do it now? Studies show that what we wear affects our behavior and mood. There’s even a scientific term for it: Enclothed Cognition.

WASH YOUR FACE

There’s a reason why Girl, Wash Your Face (by Rachel Hollis) was a bestseller long before we’d ever heard of Covid-19. Gaining strength is about taking action, beginning with the smallest things… like continuing your daily skincare routine. You are important enough — and your skin is important enough — to stay the course. After all, it will be with you long after we are allowed to leave the house again.

PUT ON A LITTLE BIT OF MAKEUP

Creating an easy, no-makeup makeup look only takes a few minutes but can do wonders in helping you to feel like the days have a normalcy to them. Makeup artist Rosalba Martone created this quick and simple routine:

  1. Start with No Makeup Foundation Serum . It creates a natural-looking, dewy complexion, thanks to alpha lipoic acid, an antioxidant and helps skin texture look smoother, reducing the look of fine lines and pores. Use your finger to pat and press wherever you need coverage to smooth out your skin tone.
  2. For a radiant glow that looks fresh and natural, mix a bit of No Makeup Blush with No Makeup Highlighter, and use your fingers to apply to the apples of cheeks. Blend upward towards the top of the ears. Or, mix Blush with No Makeup Bronzer for a bit more color as we’re heading into summer.
  3. You can also apply a tiny dot of No Makeup Bronzer to the temples, in the hollows of cheekbones and along the bridge of the nose for a very subtle contoured effect.
  4. Apply No Makeup Mascara to your lashes, focusing the majority of the application in the center of the eye to give a bit of a wider, brighter effect.
  5. Finish with No Makeup Lipstick in a shade like Original Pink, which is like your lips but with a bit more oomph.

SCHEDULE AN HOUR A DAY TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW

Keep each day feeling fresh and positive by choosing a few things you’ve always wanted to learn but never had the time.

Perhaps it’s cake decorating, or working your way through a Julia Child cookbook. Maybe it’s painting with watercolors, or writing that novel you’ve always said you would if you had time. There are plenty of online programs and classes (many free or discounted right now) that can help you achieve your goals in the one hour a day you set aside for this.

As we all adjust to our new shelter-at-home lifestyles, it’s easy to not only lose track of our days, but our schedules too. But now is the time when having a routine is most important — for our health, our skin and our mental sanity. Try keeping it easy: stay organized, and pamper yourself with a simple beauty routine, like a no-makeup look that helps you feel refreshed.

Family-Friendly Lockdown Activities

Undoubtedly one of the biggest disruptions to daily life during this pandemic is having children in the home while you try to balance working and your sanity. While older kids are a little more self-sufficient, keeping younger ones entertained is no easy task, especially if you’re trying to reduce the reliance on “screen time”.

Well, the great news is that coming up with quality activities to do with your kids needn’t be complicated, and if you choose well, it might even be fun for all the family. We’ve compiled some of our favourite lockdown activities that get bonus points for being easy to set-up and effective.

Mini-Manicures

Something as simple as applying nail polish can provide hours of entertainment for little ones. Cut out a hand shape from cardboard and let them practice applying polish to their “customer”. After they’ve honed their skills on cardboard, they may even be ready to try the real thing, giving mummy a DIY manicure (check out our new shades from Givenchy for an added treat).

Not only is this a fun activity, but kids will also be improving their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Hairdresser For A Day

Following the same theme of letting children explore “grown up” jobs, creating an in-home salon couldn’t be easier. Draw a head on a sheet of cardboard and thread wool through holes to create hair. Then, let your little one go wild with hair clips, bobbles, and even scissors (under supervision) to create their own follicular masterpiece!

Facials For Two

It’s never too early to teach children about the importance of self-care and mental wellbeing. While it can be hard convincing children to sit in one place for any amount of time, the intrigue of having a facial treatment is a great tool. While mummy and mini indulge in a bit of TLC, you can use the opportunity to practice mindfulness together, creating a quiet environment and listening to the sounds around you.

When choosing a facial treatment, opt for a natural product for children’s skin, which will be gentler and better suited to sensitivity. Neal’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm and Caudalie Moisturizing Mask are two perfect examples which use natural ingredients and nourishing oils to hydrate all skin types.

Ignite The Imagination

Kids love to use their imagination and creativity, which is why allowing them to play with makeup makes a great lockdown activity. Whether they create a smoky eye with elements of Bobo the clown, or channel their inner Joker courtesy of a red lip, kids love this take on face paint with “grown up” materials.

Of course, it’s not ideal to encourage the kids to raid your makeup drawer, so consider helping them create their own mini-kit, complete with eyeshadow and lipstick. We love the Sleek Makeup i-Divine palette for an affordable, super-pigmented option.

Shaving Foam Paints

Last on our list is an activity that you’ll definitely want to do either outside, or in a wipe-clean environment. Kids (and adults) love to explore textures, which is why this recipe for shaving foam paint is so popular. Simply squirt some foam into each portion of a muffin tray, add a few drops of food colouring and stir to combine. If you don’t already have shaving foam in the house, snap up this Collistar bargain which is reduced to clear.

Be warned, the foam paint will make a mess – one solution is to pop the kids in an empty bath for this activity, ready to wash mucky hands and bodies immediately afterwards.

And remember folks, we’re all just muddling through doing the best we can. Regardless of what your new normal looks like, you’re doing a great job. Stay home, stay safe, stay sane.

USA Beauty

Sparkling smiles and suntanned skin are the epitome of the American aesthetic, and are easily achieved with just a few simple tips.

Is it just us, or have you noticed that even everyday, average Americans seem to be, on-the-whole, a pretty attractive bunch? White teeth, healthy skin, bouncy hair – it’s as if they just roll out of bed looking fabulous.

Well, that I-just-woke-up-like-this look is no accident. With an abundance of inspiration in the form of the annual Awards Season, US-Beauty takes its lead from the Oscars and Grammys, and from the many fashionable actresses, models and musicians that call the US home.

Here’s everything you need to know to nail the look.

Skincare

The Californian surfer vibe was synonymous with how most of the world saw Americans for decades. Carefree, bronzed and athletic, it was a look that much of the western world wanted to replicate.

Traditionally, the best way to go about achieving this was by baking in the sun, allowing nature to do its work and providing an all-over tan. Considering many Americans spend plenty of time outdoors socialising and playing sports, the bronzed look has never been difficult to achieve, but it doesn’t come without its risks.

While a high SPF sunscreen is a staple in many countries, in the US less than 30% of women use it regularly. As sun protection isn’t the norm, fine lines and wrinkles are more of an issue, which is one reason that anti-ageing creams are such a popular product. However, a growing number of women, particularly those of the younger generations, are now turning to skin-safe alternatives, such as bronzers and self-tanning products. This allows them to achieve that same healthy, sun-kissed look, without the risk of skin damage or premature ageing.

When it comes to keeping skin looking hydrated and plump, it’s all about easy all-in-one products that offer bang for their buck. American brands have created fantastic skincare solutions, such as Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream, or Olay with their world-famous Total Effects cream, a beauty staple that moisturises, evens skin tone, smoothes lines, minimises pores and restores firmness. Or, for women who prefer skin products dedicated to specific skin concerns, Clinique is also a well-loved choice.

America, The Home of Makeup

Boasting quality homegrown brands such as M.A.C and Estée Lauder, it’s hardly a surprise that makeup plays a huge role in most women’s daily routines. In fact, most women will wear makeup of some description daily, whether inside the house or out.

After a primer is applied to create a smooth base, concealer is applied to hide imperfections. Multi-award-winning Estée Lauder Double-Wear Concealer is perfect for covering even the most stubborn redness or dark circles. Next, a foundation or CC cream offers an even, glowing complexion.

Mascara and hydrating lip balm are at the centre of any US-Beauty makeup look, providing the subtle beauty that many women opt for as a daily look. However, eyeshadow palettes are also making huge waves in the US-Beauty industry and come in every colour of the rainbow. If ever there was a time to go bold with colour, this is it!

Another makeup trend that American women are embracing, following the lead of glamorous socialites, is the use of contouring to define the cheekbones and sculpt the face. Originally used in Hollywood to give depth to the face when filming, contouring experienced a revival in the 90s on the supermodel scene, before becoming amongst online makeup content creators and the likes of the Kardashians.

While it can take some practice to get right, contouring can revolutionise your makeup game. Highlighter is applied to the parts of the face that the sun touches, such as the tip and bridge of the nose, the cheekbones and chin. Meanwhile, a darker contouring powder is used to create the illusion of shadow under the cheekbones, under the jawline and around the hairline. The end result is a more defined face that has shape in all the right places. To start experimenting with contouring at home, try a highlighter by BECCA, experts in all things contouring.

Shiny, Healthy Hair

Whether complementing full makeup or contrasting a simple look, having bouncy, shiny hair is the perfect accompaniment. Americans prefer volume and body over sleek locks, and achieve this by choosing the right products for their hair type.

Volumising shampoo and conditioner ensure hair has plenty of natural movement, while a protecting serum coats the hair, ready for styling. Blow drying is part and parcel of normal US-Beauty haircare, and results in full, straight hair that can either be curled or further styled.

And of course, no article on US-Beauty would be complete without mentioning the importance of hair colour for those who want to maintain a youthful appearance and cover areas of greying hair. Revlon Professional, Bumble and Bumble, Redken and Keratherapy being just a few of the popular American brands we stock here at allbeauty.

Say Cheese!

A straight, white smile is an aesthetic prized in US-Beauty, with American’s taking their dental hygiene seriously. Brushing, flossing and using mouthwash twice per day is standard practice, while regular dental appointments and braces are also par for the course – and it doesn’t end there! At-home whitening treatments and brightening toothpaste are essential for removing any staining and to maintain a bright smile.

Perfume

Although Americans don’t cherish perfume to the same extent as France, they still produce some of the world’s best fragrances. Amongst their top name perfume brands are world-renowned fashion designers including:

Calvin Klein

• Dolce & Gabbana

• Elizabeth Arden

• Marc Jacobs

• Estée Lauder

• Vera Wang

• Tommy Hilfiger

• Tom Ford

Of our top-selling fragrances, Marc Jacobs Decadence, Elizabeth Arden Red Door, Clinique Aromatics Elixir and Calvin Klein Eternity Moment rank in the Top 10. Meanwhile, celebrity fragrances are also increasing in demand amongst American women, with Britney Spears, Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian all having their own highly popular lines of perfume.

You can view the full range of best-selling fragrances our customers love here.

We think you’ll agree that achieving the fresh-face and bright smile that are synonymous with US-Beauty are achievable even for those of us across the pond. Will you be incorporating any of these tips, techniques or products into your routine? Let us know what you’ll be trying!

Leap Year: What Will You Do With Your Bonus Day?

Every four years we’re blessed with an astronomic anomaly – an extra day of the year. Since the dawn of the Gregorian calendar, we’ve added an extra day every four years to ‘balance the books’, making up for the fact that it actually takes 365.25 days for the earth to orbit the sun.

But let’s face it, the newsworthy part to us is that we all get a bonus day.  Not only that, but this year Leap Day falls on a Saturday, so you can enjoy every minute of it! You could just treat it as any other day, or you could embrace the novelty and make it a quadrennial (definitely a word) day of ultimate luxury.

Need a bit of inspiration? Here’s how the allbeauty team plan on spending February 29th 2020.

Put Your Best Foot Forward

An absolute guilty pleasure, we love a good foot peel! The Baby Foot Exfoliation Foot Peel is a #1 seller in Japan, so you know it must be good. The socks work best if they’re left on for around 60 minutes, so pour yourself a coffee or tea, then sit down and catch up on your social media or TV while the foot socks do their thing.

If you haven’t used these before, it’s worth noting that your feet will begin to peel in 2-7 days, so rule out any spa days or sandal-wearing for the next week (which shouldn’t be an issue in this weather)!

Freshen Up

After your 60 minute treatment your feet will need to be washed, so why not combine it with an indulgent shower using some new aromatic products? Treat yourself to a new shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. With so many options, you’re sure to find something you love. Personally, we’ll be trying Clarins Bath & Shower Relax and finding out firsthand what the hype is surrounding Biolage Hydra Source.

Pamper Party For One (Or More)

You’re fresh from the shower, smelling fabulous and ready for the day. What it holds, only you can decide! Why not throw an at-home pamper party for a few close friends. Bring out the manicure kits, face masks, perhaps a cheeky bottle of prosecco? Or if you’re more of a lone wolf, do all of the above with that new Netflix series you’ve been dying to watch.

All Dolled Up

How often do you get the chance to enjoy applying makeup? You’ve got no train to catch, nowhere to be, nothing to do, so instead, spend some time playing with a new eyeshadow palette or lip colour. After that, we’ll personally be popping out (looking rather glam) for a takeaway and retiring to the sofa – after all, who wants to be doing dishes on the most indulgent day of the last four years?!

An Extra Day = An Extra Night

That’s right, it isn’t just a leap day, it’s a leap night too. Make it count by heading to bed earlier than usual, climbing into freshly laundered sheets and drifting off to sleep. Of course, it isn’t quite that easy though is it? Your brain is still ticking away, social media is at the tip of your fingers and you could be doing other things. If you struggle to drift off at the best of times, pre-empt the battle with a few clever sleep-inducing products.

Using a pillow spray is ideal for letting your senses be lulled by relaxing aromas; we can recommend thisworks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray and Neom Organics London Scent to Sleep Pillow Spray

And there we have it, the best way to enjoy an indulgent leap day – only four years until the next one!

How To: Get Date Night Ready

Whether you’re new to a relationship or are trying to bring some romance back into your life, adding date night as a regular fixture in your calendar is a must. But if you’re anything like us, the pressure of getting all dolled up for a meal out with the other half can seem like more effort than it’s worth.

And it’s not just married date night grinches that find the build-up overwhelming. If you’re newly dating, the pressure to look just right, not too overdressed, not too casual, is a minefield.

Here’s a handy guide to getting date night ready with just a few easy tips.

1. “Be prepared”

Those boy scouts are onto a good thing with this handy motto. If you know it’s date night, leave yourself time to get ready. There is nothing worse than sweatily trying to apply eyeliner as your Uber waits outside. For bonus points, try to get to bed early the night before so you don’t find yourself dozing during the dessert course. A relaxing fragrance, like the Pillow Spray from ThisWorks, can be a great help for encouraging sleep.

2. Defuzz, or don’t

If you play your cards right, date night could easily become date morning. With this in mind it’s worth a last minute defuzz, if that’s the way you usually roll. Whether you epilate, shave or wax, avoid any unwelcome razor rash by applying a good quality moisturiser to the skin post-treatment. Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion with Shea Butter is one fantastic choice.

Au naturale? You’re good to go!

3. Keep your makeup simple

First of all, let me preface this by saying if you enjoy putting on a full face of makeup before you go out, you do you girl! We are not here to tell you the ‘right’ way to get ready for date night, simply how to make the whole process as easy and breezy as possible.

With that in mind,  keeping your makeup simple is a great choice. A good mascara and bright lip (preferably kiss-proof) can go a long way, and take seconds to apply. Unless you have time to kill, date night is not the time to experiment with new eyeshadow techniques or to try out contouring. Play it safe, keep it simple and stay you,  your last-minute jitters will thank you.

4. Let your crown shine

Your hair is your crowning glory, make sure it’s looked after. Again, simplicity is key on date night, particularly if you have a small window to get ready in. A quick squirt of antifrizz or volumising spray will ensure you look great the whole night through, finished with a shot of setting hairspray depending on whether you plan on breaking some moves on the dance floor.

5. Pack the essentials

Finding the balance when it comes to packing a handbag is an intricate art that can take decades to master. However, a few tips for date night: you probably don’t need your entire purse complete with 4 different coffee rewards cards, but you probably do need gum (because garlic bread shouldn’t stand between you and your sweetheart), that new lipstick, your phone, and, ahem, any relevant protection, aka umbrella.

6. Treat every sense

We’ve saved this one until last because it’s too often forgotten. Smell is an incredibly powerful sense but can often be overlooked when it comes to romance. Before you head out the door, make sure you smell great, but don’t overdo it. When it comes to perfume, less is more. Which fragrance is best for date night? One that fills you with confidence. Rosalique: Changing Skin Routines… And Lives!

Skin sensitivity and red skin are very real problems for many people. Rosalique is an innovative dermo-cosmetic that aims to make sensitive and red facial skin a thing of the past – its bio-scientific formula uses a triple action effect to instantly conceal, gently treat and provide long term protection from common red skin issues such as Rosacea, Couperose and Keratosis Pilaris. Rosalique’s 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula SPF 25 has recently been shortlisted as Pure Beauty’s Best New Skincare Product 2018.

As a 2-in-1 face cream that instantly improves and evens out skin discolouration and red sensitive skin, Rosalique can be used in two key ways. Firstly, It can be used as a concealer or foundation – as well as a base or primer under daily makeup. Secondly, It can be used as an active cosmetic offering an alternative to harsher medical products.

Its clinically proven ingredients actively work with skin to effectively reduce the intensity of the skin’s redness whilst it is one of the only creams available to use a triple action effect to not only conceal and treat, but also protect skin.

The impact of Rosalique can be seen on the following case studies below:

Samantha Franks, 48, Cleethorpes – Red skin

‘I was sceptical at first trying this product. I have had red areas around my nose, cheeks and chin for a long time. Concealers I have used in the past have covered these areas but only for a short period of time so when I was asked to try this product I thought, oh well I have nothing to lose. I cannot believe just one application lasted the whole day. I did not have to apply any makeup afterwards. My skin looked radiant! Almost everyone I met that day commented on how fresh and flawless my skin looked which made my confidence go through the roof! I wear this product daily and will never buy another concealer ever’

Ann-Marie Wilson, 41, Grimsby – Red Skin

‘I love it! I’ve been using it as a primer under my foundation, which I hardly need much of now. It really evens out my skin tone. I’ve also found putting it on with a makeup sponge minimises the green fingers!’

Sarah Johnson, 48, Grimsby – Rosacia

‘I use the cream most days under my normal make up. I wouldn’t be without it, it’s made a massive impact on my life. It’s fab as a primer and redness corrector.’
