Could a new toothbrush make you look younger?

We all know that good dental hygiene is key to a bright, white smile, but are you getting the best results from your regular toothbrush?

Studies show that whiter teeth can make you look 5 years younger and as much as 20% more attractive! No wonder celebrities line up to pay thousands of pounds for high-cost dental procedures! But there’s an easier way to achieve a fresher smile, and it comes without a high-maintenance routine or costly upkeep. It could be as simple as switching your toothbrush.

The Evolution of Brushing

For the best results, manual toothbrushing requires you to brush all possible surfaces of your teeth using multiple directions of action to thoroughly clean the enamel. Many of us simply aren’t cleaning our teeth well enough to prevent decay and remove staining.

But while manual toothbrushes rely entirely on technique, the newest electric toothbrush in the Philips Sonicare range makes it easy to get a fresh, white smile. Featuring an adaptive brush head, it is able to remove up to 10x more plaque from those hard-to-reach places.

Winner of the ‘Gold Pure Beauty Awards 2019’, the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Deep Clean Edition toothbrush is the most elegant model to date. It whitens teeth 2x better than a manual toothbrush in and removes up to 100% more stains, for whiter teeth in as little as one week. Stylish and affordable, the electric brush comes with a handy charging travel case, hygienic brush cap, and is available in four colours: classic white, modern black, feminine pink, or our personal favourite, rose gold.

Why Gum Health Matters

Our gums play a huge role in the health of our teeth – even with the best brushing regime, if the gums are neglected your teeth won’t have the base they need to stay strong and healthy. The tissue of your gums forms a tight seal around each tooth, supporting the bones and providing a barrier against bacteria. Not to mention, a good flossing routine prevents plaque buildup between the teeth and reduces the risk of decay. This is why dentists encourage daily flossing as part of our dental routine.

Whether you’re an avid flosser, or know you could be doing better, Philips have again provided the ideal solution for making our lives easier.

Clinically proven to be as effective as single-use floss, the AirFloss Pro Flosser was designed for inconsistent flossers and those who wish to simplify the process. The system uses unique air and micro-droplet technology to send a burst of pressurised air and liquid between your teeth and can be used with water or mouthwash for the ultimate clean.

With a one-touch activation button, flossing has never been so easy. Remove up to 99.9% of plaque from treated areas at the click of a switch. The AirFloss Pro Flosser comes with two nozzles and a mouthwash, so it’s ready to use straight out of the box.

Say Hello To A Brighter Smile

We all want a smile to be proud of. One that isn’t hidden under a self-conscious hand or shielded by pursed lips. Whiter, brighter teeth can help to unlock your inner confidence, so you can spread the joy of a smile wherever you go.

Caring for your hands with Noble Isle

Noble Isle, founded by Katy Simpson in 2012, is a self described ‘Truly British’ brand, sourcing their ingredients from the UK and making all of their products within the British Isles.

Their beautifully designed products infuse quality sourced British ingredients to create fragrances designed to power your senses. They have the capability to take your mind back to a person, a place or a time in your life.

Hand care doesn’t have to be clinical, Noble Isle has found the perfect balance between practical purpose and luxury. We caught up with the brand to get their recommendations on the best choices for keeping your hands clean, soft and pampered.

Time to look after your hands:

The Government’s advice is to wash our hands for 20 seconds, perfect for removing bacteria but very drying for our skin. We take care of our bodies, our hair, our faces but our hands are often neglected in our usual self-care regime.

It is important to ensure that hands are dried properly in between washes and to keep moisturising to prevent cracked skin and flakiness. It is 20 seconds for washing your hands (sing Happy Birthday, twice!) and 10 seconds for moisturising (you could try For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow…).

All of our Hand Washes are natural anti-bacterial, non-drying, use natural extracts and fill your washroom with the delicate scents of the British Isles to make the everyday task of washing your hands that little bit more enjoyable. Everything is vegan friendly, cruelty-free and paraben and SLS-free. These are perfectly paired with our matching range of Hand Lotions to protect from dryness and seal in the moisture our hands so desperately need right now.

Cleaning Beauty Tools – It’s Easy And Here’s How

Cleaning beauty tools is vital, but let’s be honest it’s something we don’t all do! Or at least as much as we should. If the reason you aren’t cleaning your beauty tools is because you don’t know how, our handy guide is here to help.

When it comes to cleaning beauty tools, there are some we all use and these are covered below. Please take care when cleaning anything electrical – unplug, leave to cool, use sense. Don’t ever submerge electrical tools in water or use them when wet. Make sure any cleaning solutions are wiped away before use.

cleaning hairbrushes
Take a moment to think about your hairbrush(es). Gunky? Full of hair? It’s ok, we won’t judge! But that’s not making your hair look great and a hairbrush is so easy to clean. Start by combing out any hair and use a pair of small nail scissors to snip out pesky strands. Once you’ve taken out the hair you’re ready to wash. A solution of shampoo and tea tree oil is perfect. Use an old toothbrush or makeup brush to really get into those nooks and you’ll be amazed at the difference.

cleaning makeup brushes
If you have super expensive brushes then you should use the proprietary cleaner that came with them. However there are still inexpensive ways to wash makeup brushes. Baby shampoo is your friend here and you may choose to add a little olive oil if you want to nourish the strands. A few drops of tea tree oil are ideal to disinfect, or you can use antibacterial hand gel (really!). Squirt the shampoo / oil / tea tree / gel onto a plate and rub the brush around in the mixture. Rinse thoroughly in warm water then dry hanging up to help brushes keep their shape.

cleaning flat irons and stylers

These are really easy to clean, but we bet you never have! All you need is a microfibre cloth and some kitchen disinfectant (any will do). Apply disinfectant to the cloth then rub over the plates (cold please, although slightly warm irons will help remove deposits). With a paper towel and a little water, wipe over plates to remove any product. Keeping your plates smooth and clean and free of product build-up makes a huge difference to the way they work. Hairdryers may seem less obvious (unless you’ve invested in the new £299 Dyson dryer!) but there is a way: just locate the vent on the back of the dryer (this bit) and unscrew/unclip it. Remember to unplug the dryer and let it cool first! Use an old toothbrush to brush out the lint and the dirt (ewwww) and replace the vent. Does it work better? Of course!!

cleaning tweezers, extractors and scissors

Ever cleaned your tweezers? We REALLY hope you have!! And let’s not go there with extractors!!!! Fill a cup with hot water straight from the kettle and add a dash of tea tree oil or disinfectant. Then simply leave the tool to soak in the hot water until it goes cold. Wipe dry with a clean microfibre cloth or paper towel and you’re good to go. Easy!

cleaning sponges

Makeup sponges (in particular BeautyBlenders) need to be washed regularly, but take care not to use a very foaming soap or you’ll be rinsing forever. Use a sulphate-free shampoo if possible or better still pop them in the wash inside a makeup bag and they’ll be like new.

Now that was painless wasn’t it??
